UPDATED - 5:10 p.m. : There was no question why the power went out at Steve Arneson’s house at 1724 Ave. E. He heard a loud snap and crash in his back yard shortly after midnight Sunday morning. Several branches from one of his old trees broke under the weight of more than a foot of snow and tore down a power line that runs from his house to the power pole in the alley.
